=============================================================================== Readme file for: IBM Platform LSF Product/Component Release: 8.0.1 SAS Update name: IBM Platform LSF Update Publication date: 10 Dec 2014 Last modified: 16 Dec 2014 This update fixes the following problem: Job resource usage collection could be slow, which affects the performance of the entire cluster. A new parameter is introduced: LSB_JUSAGE_UPDATE Configured in lsf.conf Syntax LSB_JUSAGE_UPDATE=Y|y|N|n Description Specify N to disable job resource usage collection in sbatchd and res. This can improve the job startup time if you are not interested in job resource usage statistics. Default Y. Both sbatchd and res collect job resource usage statistics. =============================================================================== ========================= CONTENTS ========================= 1. Installation and Configuration ========================= 1) Log on to the LSF master host as the LSF primary administrator and shut down LSF by running "lsfshutdown". 2) Log on to the LSF master host and to every LSF server host as the LSF primary administrator, then back up and replace the following files with the files in this update: (Windows) - %LSF_SERVERDIR%\sbatchd.exe - %LSF_SERVERDIR%\res.exe (UNIX) - $LSF_SERVERDIR/sbatchd - $LSF_SERVERDIR/res 3) Configure following parameter: a. Add the following parameters into lsf.conf: LSB_JUSAGE_UPDATE=N LSB_RUSAGE_UPDATE_INTERVAL=300 b. In lsb.hosts file, make sure the number of job slots (MXJ) does not exceed 50 on each execution host. 4) Log on to the LSF master host as the LSF primary administrator and start LSF by running "lsfstartup". ========================= 6.
