Installation Instructions for Hot Fix L05001

Teradata on Linux


Hot fix L05001 addresses the issue(s) in SAS Threaded Kernel 9.4 for Teradata on Linux as documented in the Issue(s) Addressed section of the hot fix download page:

The hot fix downloaded, L05001tl.zip, contains the updated files required to address the documented issues.
Do NOT extract the contents of L05001tl.zip. The hot fix installation process will extract the contents as needed.


IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. You must have SAS Threaded Kernel 9.4 installed on your system before applying this hot fix. Refer to SN-35968 for instructions on how to determine which product releases you have installed.

  2. Files delivered in this hot fix will be backed up during the installation process. However, it is good general practice to back up your system before applying updates to software.

  3. You must have Administrator Privileges on your CLIENT or SERVER machine.

  4. All currently active SAS sessions, daemons, spawners and servers must be terminated before applying this hot fix.

  5. This hot fix should be installed using the same userid who performed the initial software installation.


INSTALLATION

The L05001 hot fix for SAS Threaded Kernel 9.4 will be installed using the SAS Deployment Manager (SDM). By default, the SDM will search in the <SASHOME>/InstallMisc/HotFixes/New directory for hot fixes to be applied, but will also prompt for a location if you have downloaded hot fixes to a different directory.

After downloading L05001tl.zip, follow the instructions provided in the SAS Deployment Wizard/SAS Deployment Manager 9.4: User's Guide; see the Applying Hot Fixes section in Chapter 4 -- Finding and Applying Hot Fixes to complete the installation of the hot fix.

POST-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

After any number of Hot fixes have been installed on the client machine, locate the SAS Threaded Kernel for Teradata Server-side deployment package files created. The base package file created during the initial SAS 9.4 client installation will be tkindbsrv-9.4-1.x86_64.rpm.

The SAS deployment manager wizard after installation of any number Hot fixes will create new packages - tkindbsrv-9.4-n.x86_64.rpm where n is a sequential number generated depending on existing packages in the Server-side install directory.

In the Server-side install directory, <SASHOME>/ SASTKInDatabaseServer/9.4/TeradataonLinux/ , a new package tkindbsrv-9.4-2.x86_64.rpm will be created for the first Hot fix.

To complete the Teradata DBMS server-side deployment of each Hot Fix, refer to Section: Installing the SAS Formats Library and the SAS Embedded Process on page 84 of the SAS 9.4 In-Database Products Administrator's Guide, Second Edition.



This completes the installation of hot fix L05001 for Teradata on Linux.
