Installation Instructions for Hot Fix G28005

Linux for x64


Hot fix G28005 addresses the issue(s) in SAS Web Report Studio 4.31_M1 on Linux for x64 as documented in the Issue(s) Addressed section of the hot fix download page:

The hot fix downloaded, G28005pt.zip, contains the updated files required to address the documented issues.
Do NOT extract the contents of G28005pt.zip. The hot fix installation process will extract the contents as needed.


IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. You must have SAS Web Report Studio 4.31_M1 installed on your system before applying this hot fix. Refer to SN-35968 for instructions on how to determine which product releases you have installed.

  2. Files delivered in this hot fix will be backed up during the installation process. However, it is good general practice to back up your system before applying updates to software.

  3. You must have Administrator Privileges on your CLIENT or SERVER machine.

  4. All currently active SAS sessions, daemons, spawners and servers must be terminated before applying this hot fix.

  5. This hot fix should be installed using the same userid who performed the initial software installation.


INSTALLATION

The G28005 hot fix for SAS Web Report Studio 4.31_M1 will be installed using the SAS Deployment Manager (SDM). By default, the SDM will search in the <SASHOME>/InstallMisc/HotFixes/New directory for hot fixes to be applied, but will also prompt for a location if you have downloaded hot fixes to a different directory.

After downloading G28005pt.zip, follow the instructions provided in the SAS Deployment Wizard/SAS Deployment Manager 9.3: User's Guide; see the Applying Hot Fixes for Windows and UNIX section in Chapter 5 -- SAS Deployment Manager Tasks to complete the installation of the hot fix.

POST-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This hot fix requires post-installation steps that will update the web application deployed to your application server.


Step 1: Re-build Web Applications

In order for this step to execute correctly, the Metadata Server must be running.

1.1 Set the DISPLAY environment variable, for example

$ export DISPLAY=<displayname>:0

1.2 Invoke the SAS Deployment Manager 9.3

From the SASDeploymentManager directory execute sasdm.sh, for example

$ cd <SASHOME>/SASDeploymentManager/9.3
$ ./sasdm.sh

1.3 Select a language in the Choose Language box

1.4 Select Rebuild Web Applications

1.5 Select Configuration Directory or Enter the Configuration Directory and Level that needs to be updated

1.6 Specify Connection Information, including the sasadm User ID and Password

1.7 Select Web Report Studio 4.3 as the Web Application to Rebuild

1.8 Verify the information on the Summary screen and select Start

1.9 Select Finish when the deployment is complete


This process will update the Web Report Studio ear in <CONFIGDIR>/Lev1/Web/Staging and place the updated exploded ear in <CONFIGDIR>/Lev1/Web/Staging/exploded. The Web Report Studio ear includes:

A backup of the original ear file will be placed in the Backup directory.


Step 2: Re-deploy Web Applications

2.1 Re-deploy the updated ear listed above to the web application server you are using based on the instructions appropriate for your web application server. See SAS 9.3 Intelligence Platform Web Application Administration Guide for more details.
